On our way back from Poole we decided to take advantage of the wonderfully sunny weather and take a detour through the New Forest.  I forget how beautiful the New Forest can be, and it was a delight to take a slow drive through it.

We ended up at Calshott beach overlooking the Solent and towards the Isle of Wight.  While we sat on the beach enjoying a cup of tea in the evening sunshine the P&O Cruise ship Ventura sailed past having left Southampton – a reminder of our upcoming cruise onboard Cunards Queen Victoria in July, when we too shall sail down the Solent and head, ultimately, to the Baltic & St Petersburg.
